摘要
基于社会符号学翻译法对贵州旅游景点名称的英译进行分析。结果显示,这些景点名称不仅在字面上有明确的指称意义,而且在特定的语境和文化背景中,它们所传递的言内意义和语用意义尤为重要。这种深度的符号意义需要采用恰当的翻译原则和方法才能得以传达。进一步分析发现,当源语言中某一景点名称的多重文化和语境意义被转化为目标语时,可能产生多种英文译名。这不仅突显了翻译的复杂性,也凸显了文化转码的挑战。通过研究以期为旅游景点名称翻译提供有益的理论和实践参考,并为此领域的进一步研究奠定基础。
The sociosemiotic translation approach is employed to analyze the English translation of tourist attraction names in Guizhou.The results reveal that these names hold not only explicit denotative meanings but also significant connotative and pragmatic meanings within specific contexts and cultural backgrounds.The depth of these symbolic meanings necessitates the application of appropriate translation principles and methods for effective communication.Further analysis highlights that the translation of a particular attraction name,with its multiple cultural and contextual meanings from the source language,can result in various English renderings in the target language.This highlights not only the complexities in translation,but also the challenges of cultural transcoding.This study not only provides useful theoretical and practical references for the translation of tourist attraction names,but also lays the foundation for further research in this field.
