英语翻译实践中的不确定性探讨——基于蒯因的不确定性理论视角

On Uncertainty in English Translation Practice——From the Perspective of Quine’s Theory of Uncertainty

蒯因《语词与对象》提出翻译不确定性理论。关于不确定性理论的正确性与否,学界一直并没有一个定论,但学界普遍认为蒯因所提出的翻译不确定性理论之于翻译实践而言有着极为深刻的意义,其揭示了可能引起翻译不确定性的三个主要因素,而这三个因素也是翻译实践中最为基本的三个因素。

Since Quine put forward the theory of translation uncertainty in his famous work Words and Objects,there has been a heated debate on it in the academic circle.For the present,there is still no exact conclusion on the correctness of uncertainty theory,but it is generally believed that Quine’s theory of translation uncertainty has profound signifi cance to translation practice.The theory can reveal three main factors that may cause translation uncertainty,and these three factors are the most basic three factors in translation practice.
