Ten Characteristics of Good University--A Study of《What is a Good University»》

邬大光教授的新作《什么是好大学?》,探讨了“好大学”的概念及其理想和现象,刻画了国内知名大学的三位好校长和他本人的两位好导师,分析了大学的历史印记与文化符号。在他访问的40多个国家、近170所国外大学中,选择出5所英美名校和非洲的大学、伊朗的大学进行介绍,并与我国高校进行了比对,读后深受教育和启发。本文根据他归纳的“好大学”的十个特征,结合他的相关文献,围绕“人”进行了梳理,具体分为培养人、改变人、一流人、领跑人、文化人、自信人、经营人、精细人、实干人和理性人等,希望有助于加深对于“好大学”的认识和理解。

The new book of Dr. Wu Daguang,«What is a Good University?»,discussed the concept with related ideas and phenomenon, depicted three good presidents of famous China's universities, as well as two of his good mentors, and analyzed university's historical imprint and cultural symbol. From his visiting 170 univer-sities of more than 40 foreign countries, five famous Britian and American universities, and some African uni-versities, as well as Iran Universities were selected being introduced, and compared to China's universities, with education and enlightenment after reading the book. Based on his summarizing ten characteristics of"a good university"and some of his other literatures, the article has carried on the combing around"People",such as cultivating people, changing people first-class people, the frontrunner cultural worker, confident people, operator, fine person, a person of action and rational people, which would be helpful for deepening the understanding of"a good university"。
