Damiao Temple Fair in Memory

老烟台人过去都有逛庙会的习俗,早年烟台街(芝界区)每年举办两次庙会。一次是农历正月初九的毓璜顶庙会,另一次是正月十五的大庙庙会,大庙也称海神娘娘庙。后来,大概是因为玉皇庙建在毓璜顶上,人们习惯把逛毓璜顶庙会称为“赶山会”或“赶山”。逛庙会就仅指正月十五的海神娘娘庙会了,我们小时候都叫逛大庙。

Preople in Yantai had the custom of going to temple fairs.In the early years,Yantai Street(Zhifu District)held temple fairs twice a year:one was Yuhuangding Temple Fair on the ninth day of the first lunar month and the other was Damiao(also known as Sea Goddess Temple)Temple Fair on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.
