“建文舊臣”嚴震直死事叙述舆形象建構——以《流芳録》之傳刻为中心

Death of Emperor Jianwen's Former Minister Yan Zhenzhi and His Image Construction:Centering on the Compiling of Liu Fang Lu

明初名宦嚴震直在朱棣即位後被派往北方諸省巡視,死於途中。受明前期禁革建文朝事及建文流亡傳說之影響,明中期以來對於嚴震直死因及晚節的認定,隶說紛紜。與此同時,嚴震直後人所童纂的記錄、頌揚先祖功績的《流芳録》,也幾經重訂再刊。嚴氏家族意圖利用時勢變化和相關傳說,並藉助旌忠祠的興修與重建,推動嚴震直的形象由“建文降臣”向“殉節忠臣”轉變,展現了一個江南地方家族對於國家政治與輿論的持續關注以及適時的因應。

Yan Zhenzhi,a famous official at the beginning of Ming Dynasty,was sent to inspect the northern provinces after the succession of Emperor Yongle,and died in Zezhou,Shanxi.Affected by the imprisonment of the history of Jianwen Reign in the early Ming Dynasty and the legend of Emperor Jianwen's exile,there have been divergent opinions on the cause of Yan Zhenzhi's death and his integrity in later years since the mid-Ming Dynasty.From Hongzhi reign to the mid-Qing Dynasty,Liu Fang Lu compiled by the Yan family's descendants to record and praise the achievements of their ancestor,had been revised several times.Among them,the account of Yan Zhenzhi's death has undergone from acquiescing to his death from diseases,to dying after meeting Emperor Jianwen in Yunnan Province and swallowing gold,and then to dying of swallowing gold in Zezhou which was regarded as martyrdom.By reediting Liu Fang Lu and cooperating with the construction and reconstruction of Jingzhong Temple dedicated to Yan Zhenzhi,the Yan family's descendants intend to use the changes of situation and related legends to promote Yan Zhenzhi's image from a minister of Emperor Jianwen surrendering to Emperor Yongle to martyrdom loyal minister,showing a local family in Jiangnan region continuing to pay attention to national politics and public opinion and responding in a timely manner.
