Metaphor in the Representation of Odor-Taking Mo Yan’s “The Garlic Ballads” as An Example

强烈的感官性为莫言小说打上了鲜明的风格标记,而嗅觉作为感官经验的一部分,在小说叙事中具有叙事、美学、话语等重要意义。文章以《天堂蒜薹之歌》为例,以文本中的气味描写为中心,将嗅觉感官作为载体,通过厘清小说中的人物心理活动与气味变化的关系,探索隐于气味描写之中的深层寓意。

The strong sensuality marks Mo Yan's novel with a distinct style, and olfactory, as a part of sensory experience, has important significance such as narrative, aesthetics, and discourse in the narrative of the novel. Taking “The garlic ballads” as an example, this paper takes the description of smell in the text as the center, identifies the olfactory senses as the carrier, and explores the deep meaning hidden in the description of smell by clarifying the relationship between the psychological activities of the characters in the novel and the change of smell.
