摘要
威廉·莫里斯的奇幻小说《奔腾的洪流》讲述了两位年轻人奥斯本和艾尔菲尔德浪漫曲折的爱情故事,表达了推翻腐朽旧制度、建立平等新社会的美好愿景。通过“第二世界”想象,小说折射出社会主义与资本主义之间的激烈斗争,体现了莫里斯对平等的社会主义伦理思想的憧憬,包括铲除邪恶和暴政,建立公平社会秩序的政治伦理(人与人的平等);崇尚原生态农耕文明,反对现代工业文明的生态伦理(人与自然的平等),从而建立理想的社会模式——社会主义社会。但他的这种伦理思想蕴含乌托邦特征,存在一定的局限性。
In the fantasy novel The Sundering Flood,William Morris narrates a romantic but tortuous love story of two youths,Osborne and Elfeld,and the heroic efforts to defeat foreign invasion,overcome the evil,and overturn the tyranny.The imagination of the“Secondary World”reflects the fierce struggle between socialism and capitalism,and highlights Morris's longing for the socialist ethical thoughts of freedom and equality,including the political ethic of eradicating evil,overthrowing tyranny,and establishing a fair social order(the equality between man and man),and the ecological ethic of advocating the original ecological nature and opposing the modern industrial civilization(the equality between man and nature),so as to realize the vision of establishing an ideal social model,socialism.However,Morris's socialist ethical thoughts embody Utopian characteristics and have certain limitations.
