Syntactic Pivots in the Coordination Structures of Dyirbal and Japanese

迪尔巴尔语和日语并列结构中的句法中枢存在差异和相似点。两者的差异是明显的:迪尔巴尔语的句法中枢呈现跨分句的施格性,而日语的句法中枢呈现跨分句的宾格性。然而两者也有相似点:一是两种语言的单中枢都倾向出现于句首;二是两种语言都只有一种双中枢,即存在O1/O2+A1/A2双中枢,但不存在O1/A2+A1/O2双中枢。

Both similarities and differences exist between the syntactic pivots in the coordination structure in Dyirbal and Japanese.The differences are obvious:the pivots in Dyirbal show inter-clausal ergativity whereas those in Japanese show inter-clausal accusativity.There are,however,also similarities between them:[1]The single pivot tends to appear at the beginning of a clause in both languages;[2]Both languages have only one type of double pivots,i.e.,they both have the double pivots of O1/O2+A1/A2,but neither of them has the double pivots of O1/A2+A1/O2.
