王亚南论大学办学的应然取迳

Wang Yanan's Idea on the Proper Way of Running a University

作为中华人民共和国成立后厦门大学的第一任校长,王亚南对大学的办学活动有过深入思考。他认为办好一所大学直接关系到内部的成员利益和外部的社会声誉,并且与中国高等教育的整体发展息息相关,意义重大。他以私立武昌中华大学为例,坚信校长、学科建设、学术交流与学风等是办好一所大学的关键所在。在办学实践中,大学校长应发挥引领作用;促使各学科不断壮大、增强实力;推动学术交流,打破一孔之见;不遗余力地营造良好学风等。这些认识对王亚南的办学实践有着直接影响,亦对今日大学管理具有借鉴意义。

As the first president of Xiamen University after 1950,Wang Yanan had a deep thought on run-ning the university.He believed that running a university well was directly related to the vital interests of various members within the university,the social reputation of the university,and the overall development of higher edu-cation in China.Taking Wuchang Chunghua University as an example,he believed that the president,discipline constructions,academic exchange and campus atmosphere were the keys to a successful university.These under-standings had a direct impact on Wang Yanan’s educational activities and still have positive significance for to-day’s higher education.
