Expanding Land and Territory:Development in the "Nanyi" Area of Guizhou by the Central Governments of the Two Han Dynasties

汉代之前,受历史、地理等条件的制约,贵州大部分民族地区都生活在闭塞的环境中,与外界少有来往。西汉建立以来,贵州诸民族地区被统称为“南夷”。随着国力日益兴盛,武帝时中央逐渐重视对西南边疆地区的开发,贵州的“南夷”地区与中原王朝的联系日益密切,此后朝廷采取了诸多办法开发治理贵州民族地区,其成效十分显著。经两汉的经营,贵州民族地区被置于国家管理体系之下。

Before Han Dynasty,most ethnic areas in Guizhou lived in a closed environment and had little contact with the outside world because of the restriction of history and geography.Since the establishment of the Western Han Dynasty,the ethnic areas of Guizhou have been collectively called "Nanyi".As the country's power grew,Emperor Wu began to emphasize the development of the southwestern frontier,and the "Nanyi" region of Guizhou became increasingly close with the Central Plains dynasty.After that,the government adopted many methods to develop and govern the ethnic areas in Guizhou,and the results were very remarkable.Through the management of the two Han dynasties,ethnic areas in Guizhou were placed under the national management system.
