Reconstructing Multiple Identities and Women’s Communities in“Divorced Mother”Short Videos on Contemporary We Media Platforms

“离异母亲”短视频是当前我国自媒体平台中受欢迎的主题之一。传统与现代的多重女性价值汇集于“离异母亲”这一身份上,使其呈现出具有魅力又极具冲突性的面向。博主们调用了这一身份多重性,获得了数以万计的粉丝关注,成为独立的现代女性。然而,对女性主义批判而言,她们在公领域的成功却似乎悖论性地依赖于在私领域的传统女性身份价值。她们作品中所展示的复杂经验,以及她们充满多元个性的展演扰乱了包括独立/牺牲、公/私领域、现代/传统身份等在内的一系列有关女性的二元文化想象。因此,“离异母亲”短视频作品为女性主义理论实践在新媒体语境中重新探索母亲身份提供可能性。

The divorced mother short videos are one of the most popular themes on contemporary We Media platforms in China.Both traditional and modern values converge on the identity of“divorced mother”,which presents their charming and conflicting characteristics.With the multiple traits of their identities,divorced mother bloggers have been receiving much economic profit,but also welcomed by tens of thousands followers.However,to take feminist criticism into consideration,the achievements of these bloggers in public sphere as media practitioners seem paradoxically depending on their conservative identities in privacy sphere.Thus,the complex experiences and multicharacteristics represented in their short videos have disturbed a series of binary cultural imagination,such as independent woman/sacrifice mother,public/privacy sphere,modern/traditional identity.Therefore,the short videos uploaded by these divorced mothers has opened up to possibilities for feminist theory/practice to explore the issue of Mother identity in the new media context.
