Xi Zhongxun attached great importance to investigation and research.His ideological philosophy and working methods of“Investigation and Research--Mass Line”developed during his years of revolutionary ca⁃reer have become a valuable asset of the Party.Field investigation,random investigation,typical case study,inter⁃view,and experiment were the methods frequently used by Xi Zhongxun in conducting investigations and research.His methods,which were in line with the conventional ones developed by the older generation of revolutionaries while keeping up with the times,have distinct personal style and effectiveness,showing distinct theoretical attri⁃butes,featuring mass line,practicality,and successiveness.They provide valuable models and useful references for Party members and officials in the new era to follow the mass line and employ well the basic skills in investigation and research.
