Under the complex interplay of various historical factors, including politics, education, and culture,Yanjing University emerged as a center for women’s writing in Beiping(now Beijing)during the years 1928 to 1937.A group of prominent female writers, represented by figures like Lin Peizhi,Li Suying,Li Mangui,Tan Chaoying, and Guo Xinhui, thrived during this period. The convergence of female writers at Yanjing University can be attributed to several factors.First,it was a product of the university’s well-developed women’s education and its vibrant campus culture.Simultaneously,it was closely connected to the literary resources and writing experiences passed down through classroom teaching and interpersonal networks among teachers and students at the university. As a distinctive group of writers with a distinct scholarly style, the female writers at Yanjing University brought to light the conventional themes of women that were not yet fully explored in the literature of the May Fourth Movement and were subsequently overshadowed by the revolutionary literary trends of the 1930s.This development marked the establishment and growth of the female academic tradition under new historical conditions.
