埃塞俄比亚(以下简称“埃塞”)是非洲地势最高的山地高原国家,占据非洲之角的中心位置,是一个有着3000多年历史的文明古国。首都亚的斯亚贝巴是埃塞政治、经济和文化中心,也是联合国非洲经济委员会和非洲联盟总部所在地,被誉为“非洲的政治心脏”。独特的地理位置和政治地位,为埃塞赢得了“非洲屋脊”的美誉。在近代史上,非洲只有两个国家没有沦为欧洲列强的殖民地,一个是利比里亚,另一个就是埃塞;在现代史上,埃塞是世界上第一个身自由民族之林的非洲国家。
Ethiopia,located in the Horn of Africa,is the country of the highest altitude in Africa.With over 3,oo0 years'history of civilization,it is often referred to as the"Roof of Africa."Ethiopia has abundant bamboo resources,which means tremendous potential in bamboo industry development,but it lacks the know-hows and enabling environment for developing bamboo industry.China-Africa Bamboo Center in Ethiopia,a development aid project of China,will serve as a new bond for China-Africa cooperation.It will contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to the rational utilization of bamboo resources as well as green and sustainable development in Africa.
