With the gradual slow down of urbanization, the topic of urban renewal remains highly popular.Currently,large-scale transformation and utilization of key urban areas such as industrial relics and historical districts have become increasingly mature. However, there is still insufficient attention given to urban daily spaces that are smaller in scale, more numerous and widely distributed, such as public markets and temporary bazaars. This paper takes the renovation and transformation projects of Dongshan Public Market in Guangzhou and Tianyuan Community Public Market in Shanghai as examples, adhering to the concept of"human-oriented design".It explores the revitalization and renovation strategies for public market spaces from two aspects:enhancing the hard power of spatial quality and the soft power of cultural emotions. The aim is to revive the vitality of these buildings as part of the urban context through organic renewal approaches.
