the development of Hu Xiansu's scholar character was deeply influenced by Yan Fu.In terms of ideological orientation,Yan Fu and Hu Xiansu,as representatives of two generations of international students,took survival,development and modern transformation of traditional academic culture as their mission,in the crisis of the age.In terms of knowledge path,they took pursuit of prosperity as a starting point,and “inspiring National spirit” as their ultimate pursuit.Both Yan Fu's spreading advanced ideas to the Chinese people and Hu Xiansu's promoting the turning of utilitarianism to humanism demonstrate strong senses of mission and responsibility held by new generation of intellectuals.
