摘要
定向动机流理论是二语习得或外语教学动机研究领域的最新研究成果,具有重要的理论和教学意义。该文旨在探究中国大学非英语专业学生英语学习动机行为的核心特征是否与定向动机流理论中的特征一致。研究结果验证了这一一致性:当参与者经历定向动机流时,作为驱动力的目标/愿景是定向的,带有明确起点的学习行为是重复出现且自我推进的。此外,参与者的情感通常是积极向上的,但偶尔带有消极情绪。因此,定向动机流的显著特征的有效性在中国外语语言语境中得到了验证,这为激发和保持学生的英语学习积极性提供了宝贵的启示。
The theory of Directed Motivational Currents is the latest research development in the field of second/foreign language motivation,which are both theoretically and pedagogically crucial for language teaching and learning.The purpose of this study is to verify the consistency of the key characteristics of motivational behaviors of Chinese college non-English major students’English study with those of the theory of Directed Motivational Currents.The results of the current research validated this consistency.When the participants were experiencing the directed motivational currents,their goals or visions as the driving forces are directed,at the same time,their study behaviors are recurrent and self-propelling.What’s more,the participants’emotions are generally in the positive state yet accidentally negative.Therefore,the validity of the key features of the directed motivational currents in the context of English as a foreign language in China was gained and also shed great light on stimulating and sustaining the motivation for foreign language study.
