关联理论视角下英剧《唐顿庄园》中委婉语的语用分析

Pragmatic Analysis of Euphemism in Downton Abbey from the Perspectiveof Relevance Theory

本文在关联理论的指导下,以英剧《唐顿庄园》中出现的英语委婉语为素材,分析该剧人物对白中出现的英语委婉语,从说话者和听话者的角度,在明示-推理交际、语境效果、关联原则和最佳关联三方面对剧中委婉语做深层次的分析和解释,考察听话者是否能够发现关联前提和关联结论来理解说话者的委婉语,从而达到交际成功的效果。

With the guidance of relevance theory,this paper analyzes some English euphemisms from conversations of English TV serial Downton Abbey.For the perspective of the speaker and the hearer,in terms of ostensive-inference communication,contextual effect,the principles of relevance and optimal relevance,it deeply analyzes and explains the euphemisms to examine if the hearer can find relevant premise and conclusion to understand the speaker’s euphemisms,so that it can achieve the efficiency of successful communication.
