《小村故事:罪过与惩罚》是朱晓阳教授对于云南省昆明郊区滇池东岸小村的田野调查资料。该书采用“延伸个案法”描述小村惩罚变革历史,展现了不同时期国家权力与村落文化间的关系,从中华人民共和国成立前的村寨头人掌权、村落自治,到中华人民共和国成立后农民利用国家权力来实现地方性目标,再到国家适当控制下的基层社会自主性增强,国家权力与基层村落关系不断调整适应,成为重塑乡村秩序、推动农村社区改革的核心动力。

Guilt and Punishment:Stories froma Small Village is the resources of a field survey conducted by Professor Zhu Xiaoyang in a small village on the east bank of Dianchi Lake in the suburbs of Kunming,Yunnan Province.The book adopts an“extended case study”to describe the history of the transformation of small village punishment,showcasing the relationship between state power and village culture in different periods,from the power of village leaders and village autonomy before the establishment of the People’s Republic of China,to the use of state power by farmers to achieve local goals after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China,and then to the enhancement of grassroots social autonomy under appropriate state control,where the relationship between state power and grass-roots villages is constantly adjusted and adapted,and then becomes the core driving force for reshaping rural order and promoting rural community reform.
