中译本《红线》的四字格运用研究

On the Employment of Four-Character Words in English-Chinese Translation of The Red Thread

四字格是汉语中一种常见的语言现象,因其言简意赅、短小精悍等特点被广泛运用于英译汉过程中。李尧和郇忠在尼古拉斯·周思的小说翻译实践中运用了较多的汉语四字格,以增加译文目标语的特色优势,呈现了其鲜明的翻译风格。本文以尼古拉斯·周思的小说《红线》及其中译本为研究语料,以译文中含有汉语四字格的句段为研究对象,采用定量和定性相结合的分析方法对英译汉过程中运用四字格的情形进行分析,以期对英汉文学翻译实践中四字格的运用产生一定的指导意义。

Four-character structure,a common linguistic phenomenon in Chinese,is widely used in the English-Chinese translation process for its conciseness,succinctness and other advantages.Plenty of four-character words have been adopted by Li Yao and Huan Zhong when they did the English-Chinese translation of Nicolas Jose s literary works in order to increase the specific advantages of the target language,which has shown their distinctive translation style.Based on The Red Thread written by Nicolas Jose and its Chinese translation,this paper analyzes the words,sentences,paragraphs in which four-character words are employed and the corresponding situations in the English-Chinese translation process through the qualitative and quantitative analysis.This paper is expected to be of certain significance to guide the employment of the four-character words in the English-Chinese translation.
