Slavery,European colonial history and post-colonial context endow Caribbean women with different life experiences as well as interpretation perspectives towards romantic love. This article explores the disillusion of romantic love concealed in Anglophone-Caribbean women's writings, represented by Mary Prince with her slave narratives in the 19th century,Jean Rhys with her modernist narratives in the early 20th century and Jamaica Kincaid with her post-colonial narratives,to expose how Caribbean women's female consciousness is developed and how Caribbean female discourse is constructed.
