Influence of the Black Death on Medieval Universities

中世纪时期的大瘟疫剧烈撼动了当时的社会生活,人口锐减,对欧洲大陆来说是空前的灾难。大瘟疫不仅影响了高等教育的入学人数,也影响了其人才培养质量。中世纪大学在面对黑死病这一偶发性事件时未能即时做出有效应对,反倒是黑死病作为间接原因刺激了中世纪大学加速走出经院哲学的束缚。伴随着中世纪大学走出疫情的阴霾,人文、世俗主义不断涌现,医学革命开始兴起。

The great plague of the Middle Ages dramatically shook the social life of the time,and the sharp decline in population was an unprecedented disaster for the continent.The Great Plague not only affected the enrolment of higher education,but also affected the quality of talent training.Medieval universities were unable to respond to the Black Death as an occasional event,but the Black Death,as an indirect reason,spurred them to accelerate their move out of the confines of phi⁃losophy.Along with medieval universities out of the epidemic,humanism and secularism continued to emerge,and the medical revolution began to rise.
