Ceramic Steam Pots and Tea Sets:A Field Report on Purple Pottery in Jianshui,Yunnan

建水紫陶是中国四大名陶之一,是云南建水传承已久的民间工艺文化,也是云南建水旅游的名片。文章主要考察建水紫陶现今的制陶技艺和建水旅游市场中的紫陶经济,集中讨论“日用紫陶”和“艺术紫陶”两大类商品,即“汽锅”和“茶具”。通过探讨建水紫陶市场发展现状以及从业者面对旅游市场的应对策略,对建水紫陶和旅游市场同类产业未来的发展起到积极的作用。

Jianshui purple pottery is one of four famous types of Chinese pottery.It is a kind of folk craft with a long history in Jianshui,Yunnan,and a well-known brand name for which it has acquired a good reputation.In 2019,several field trips were made to the ancient city of Jianshui to investigate the development of pottery in Jiangshui in relation to tourism,and the techniques of making Jianshui pottery.In this paper,“steam pots”and“tea sets”are used to refer to the two major products of Jiangshui pottery:daily usage and artistic value.Based on field observations,this paper aims at showing that the focus of the market of pottery in Jianshui is on the main artistic product,namely tea sets.Additionally,the paper intends to explore the coping strategies of Jianshui purple pottery practitioners in adapting to the tourism market,in order to have positive significance for the future development of Jianshui purple pottery industry.
