1980年12月,我第一次来到北京,那时,我从未想过会在这里一留就是40多年。直至今天,我仍然在这里,并且视北京为第二故乡。我经常被问到一个经典问题:“你当初为什么来北京?”的确,在20世纪80年代初,中国对外国人并不是很开放,条件很艰苦,我们面临着许多限制。

When I first arrived in Beijing in December 1980,I never could have imagined that I would stay for more than forty years.Today I am still in Beijing and I consider it my home.A typical question I often receive is,“Why did you first come to Beijing?”Indeed,in the early 1980s,China was not very open to foreigners,conditions were challenging,and we faced many restrictions.
