In the traditional Burmese Chinese society, the admonitions and ideas of"talking business in business"and"staying away from politics"have become an important criterion for the survival and development of their ethnic groups.Myanmar's older Chinese generation has been instilling in the younger generation the dangers of political participation,as well as bitter memories and deep lessons of Chinese involvement in political movements. This role positioning is closely related to the Burmese Chinese identity. In recent years, the new generation of Chinese in Myanmar has shown a completely different political outlook and attitude from that of their parents and grandparents.Especially in the context of the Myanmar military taking over the state power again in 2021,many new generations of Chinese have poured into the streets to actively express their demands for democracy. The new generation also has a significant change in identity.Exploring the changes of Bumese Chinese identity and political participation is an important dimension to understand the development trend of Burmese Chinese society and Myanmar politics. On this basis,it can provide theoretical space for exploring the identity and role of the new generation Chinese in the construction of Myanmar's nation-state.
