摘要
文章基于ESP视域下的需求分析理论,对山西医科大学的三年级本科生对学术英语课程的需求情况进行了问卷调查,共回收问卷483份。调查结果表明,医学本科生具有强烈的学术英语需求,包括阅读英文专业文献、听懂专业英文讲座、选修全英课程、用英文进行学术写作等。多数医学本科生认为英文学术读写能力非常重要,但是在词汇和学术读、说、听、写、5个方面表示有困难的学生比例均超过了一半,在用英文搜索和阅读专业文献的6个困难中,认为有困难的学生的比例也基本超过了一半。学术规范知识调查表明,医学生鉴别文献资源可靠性的能力较差,医学生合理引用文献的知识也很匮乏。随后的文本分析和课堂观察也表明,虽然学生有强烈的需求,但是对于研究范式和写作学术规范知之甚少。由于当前开设的通用大学英语课程不能满足学生的多种需求,在学习者需求分析的基础上,构建通用英语+学术英语的课程模式可能更适合普通本科院校的学生。
Based on the needs analysis theory in the perspective of ESP,the authors conducted a questionnaire survey in third year medical undergraduates to investigate their needs for"Academic English"courses.483 questi onnaires were collected and data analysis showed that medical undergraduates have a strong need for academic English,including reading professional literature in English,at-tending lectures delivered in English;tak ing professional courses taught in English;and writing papers in English,etc.Most medical undergraduates agreed on the importance of academic English,however,more than half of the undergraduates find much difficulty in.vocabulary,reading,speak ing,listening,and writing.In the part of the survey of six difficulties in searching and reading professional.literature in English,the percentages of the und ergraduates who admitted that they have this particu lar difficulty are about 50%or high-er.The results of academic conventions research showed that the undergmaduates are neither good at evaluating the reliability of re-sources nor good at citing literature correctly.Subsequent textual analysis and classroom observation also showed that the students know little about research and academic conventions,although they exhibited a strong demand.Since the general English courses currently offered fail to satisfy the needs of the undergraduates,it is suggested that a combined model of general English+academic English be constructed to cater for the undergraduates.
