After Modi administration assumed office,India has gradually enhanced security arrangements and expanded relationships in the Western Indian Ocean region.India's approach to security arrangements and its expansion of relationships focuses on military deployments,expanding security relations and constructing regional security frameworks.This involves the deployment and presence of the Indian Navy,deepening bilateral security relations,nurturing multilateral cooperation,shaping regional security architecture,and advancing apreference for mini-lateral cooperation.In this regard,India is proactively demonstrating its role as a net security provider in the region.Based on a functional assessment of various actors involved,India relies on cooperation with selective security partners and with key strategic stakeholders.A key emphasis is on building and enhancing maritime domain awareness capabilities to collectively address both traditional and non-traditional security threats.While so,India faces budgetary restraints and shortcomings with respect to capacity which present considerable obstacles to realize its strategic intentions.Nonetheless,it is important to carefully examine its initiatives,methods,trends,and future developments.
