摘要
儿童绘本是一种多模态文本。绘本中的图画与文字在交融互动中形成对称、互补等关系,共同叙述故事、传情达意。两种模态的有效互动有助于增强作品的感染力,丰富读者的阅读体验。以《心灵成长故事》为例,探讨多模态视角下的儿童绘本英译策略,指出译者应具备多模态意识和儿童视角,在全面深入解读绘本图文关系的基础上,选择灵活适宜的翻译策略,在译文中准确地、充分地、生动地再现故事的意义与童趣。
Children’s picture books are multimodal texts.The pictures and scripts in them form symmetrical and complementary relations in interaction and work together to convey meaning and emotions while telling stories.Besides,effective interaction between pictures and scripts helps to strengthen the books’influence on readers and enrich readers’reading experience.This paper takes Stories for Mental Development as an example and analyzes the translation strategies adopted in it from the perspective of multimodality.It is concluded that to precisely,fully and vividly convey the meaning and children’s taste in the source language,the translator should have the consciousness of multimodality and children’s view.What is more,he should carefully analyze and understand the relation between pictures and scripts in the text,and select flexible and appropriate translation strategies accordingly.
