摘要
《金钱——绝命书》中的地方书写是马丁·艾米斯关于全球化进程对社会文化影响的体察和深思。为带领英国经济走出低迷,撒切尔政府开启国家经济战略转向,希冀通过新自由主义伦理实现经济提振,伦敦的都市形象重塑成为整个英国状况的缩影,繁华的都市景观背后隐匿着步履维艰的情感依附、身份建构和民族认同。本文以地方意识为切入点,将地方置于全球化进程之中,以呈现20世纪末地方功能及意义的变迁,探讨地方建构过程中的意识形态、生产关系和权力关系。本文认为艾米斯指出了地方与个体身份、文化机制和民族性之间的复杂关系,消解了新自由主义神话,艾米斯对地方建设的多维度思考体现出他对国家政治经济发展的伦理关怀。
The role of place in Money:A Suicide Note by Martin Amis reflects the author's thinking about the infuence of globalization on local culture.In order to lead the British economy out of the doldrums,the Thatcher government began a strategic turn toward neoliberalism.London's urban image turned into a microcosm of Britain,with a prosperous spectacle masking dificulties in emotional attachment,identity building,and national identification.From the perspective of the sense of place,this article shows the dramatical change of the place's function and meaning during globalization and explores the ideology,relation of production,and power in the process of place construction.Amis reveals the complicated relationship between place and nationality and between identity and culture,and deconstructs the myth of neoliberalism.Through multi-dimensional thinking about place construction,Amis expresses his ethical concern about political and economic issues in Britain.
