As an outstanding jurist and translator in the 20th-century China,Wu Jingxiong actively translated and introduced Chinese legal system and classical culture to the outside world with the aim of promoting a genuine understanding of China in the West.He played a crucial role in the legal development in China and the cultural exchange between China and the West.Most people marvel at Wu’s achievements in law,but few scholars pay attention to his translation work as a jurist.This paper analyzes the socio-cultural context of that time and his translation strategies to explore the influence of his jurist identity on his translation practices.
