To gain insight into the current application status of atropine eye drops in the prevention and control of myopia,as well as potential ethical issues in pediatric patients, this study employed qualitative research utilizing root theory to conduct semi-structured interviews with 11 ophthalmologists in Fujian.Three core themes emerged:the benefits and risks of low-concentration atropine eye drops in the prevention and control of myopia in children,doctor-patient communication prior to medication administration, and identified application shortcomings.Participants generally held the view that low-concentration atropine eye drops effectively controlled myopia with minimal side effects.Nevertheless, uncertainties surrounding the use of atropine eye drops, lack of comprehensive clinical trial data, and concerns over the safety of minors and medical ethics remain. It is recommended that future myopia prevention and control strategies take into account the dual focus on clinical medication regulation and the significant importance of myopia prevention and control to ensure the safety of myopic children.
