This study selected 36 3-month-old Hu sheep with good physical condition and similar body weight as the research subjects, and randomly divided them into two groups, each consisting of 18 sheep, with 3 replicates per group and 6sheep per replicate.Silage corn(experimental group)and corn straw(control group)were fed separately as a single coarse feed to prepare two types of diets.A 60 day study was conducted on growth status, rumen fermentation status, and serum biochemical indicators to explore the effect of feeding silage corn on Hu sheep. The results showed that the DMI and ADG of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P < 0.05),with an increase of 13.26% and 21.88%,respectively;while the F/G of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group(P > 0.05);The rumen pH value of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05),with an increase of 8.03%(P< 0.05),but acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, and total volatile acid in the rumen had no significant effect(P > 0.05);There was no significant difference in serum biochemical indicators such as total protein, albumin, globulin, and urea nitrogen in the experimental group(P > 0.05).The results indicate that silage corn has the potential to improve the rumen fermentation and growth performance of Hu sheep, and has the value of promotion and application.
