Taking Classics as the Foundation and Emphasizing Both Reason and Emotion:A Review of Hu Yin's Literary Thought

胡寅乃著名学者,兼擅诗文,为理学家胡安国之子,幼承庭训,又受学于杨时,服膺二程之学,是胡湘学派的重镇。朱熹由湖湘学派而上承二程,发扬光大。胡寅身历北宋之覆亡、南宋新建之艰难,卓荦大节,为世所仰慕。其论文,根柢儒学义理,经世致用,以为文学本原;求道以践行,以为现实之指向;理情并重,充实光大,发挥文之作用;倡导以经为根本、经世致用的观念以及道器一体、理在事中的思想,关乎时务,曲尽其情;其学有比较鲜明的心学倾向,重情性,有理趣,追求雍容弘廓的气度,有很强的现实针对性。事实上,胡寅所追求、突破的,正是一个艺术难题:思想、理论将如何以有意味的形式,予以形象、生动地展现?胡寅重道也重文,统合古文家欧阳修的文学理想与道学家程颢重理趣、追求雍容弘廓的审美,为宋代诗文理论的深度融合与发展,作出了有益的探讨,而其杰出的诗文创作,亦昭示这一发展之可能。

Hu Yin was a famous scholar who was also skilled in poetry and literature.He was the son of the Neo Confucianism scholar Hu Anguo.He received court training from a young age and also studied from Yang Shi,adhering to the teachings of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi.Hu Yin experienced the downfall of the Northern Song Dynasty and the difficulties of building a new one in the Southern Song Dynasty,and was highly respected by the world for his outstanding integrity.His thesis is rooted in the principles of Confucian-ism,applied to the world,and regarded as the origin of literature;Hu emphasizes both reason and emotion,enrich and expand,and give full play to the role of literature,advocating the concept of taking the classics as the foundation and applying them to the world,as well as the idea of integrating the principles in affairs,which is related to current affairs and reflects their emotions,whose studies have a distinct tendency towards the study of the mind,emphasizing emotional and rational interests,pursuing a graceful and grand demeanor,and having strong practical relevance.In fact,what Hu Yin pursues and breaks through is precisely an artistic dilemma:how will ideas and theories be vividly and vividly presented in meaningful forms?Hu Yin empha-sized both the Dao and the Wen,combining the ideals of the ancient writer Ouyang Xiu with the aesthetic pursuit of the Daoist Cheng Hao's emphasis on reason and interest,as well as his pursuit of elegance and grandeur.He made useful explorations for the deep integration and development of Song Dynasty poetry and prose theory,and his outstanding poetry and prose creation also indicates the possibility of this development.
