The medicine-related literature represented by The Story of the Stone is one of the important genres for the overseas dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)culture. In the process of translation, the translator occupies a central position and is a mediator of different cultures. The multiple cultural identities of David Hawks make him more concerned with the construction of the meaning of heterogeneous culture in Western contexts, which might influence the facsimile of culture. For the overseas dissemination of TCM culture, the integration of translators multicultural identities or the collaboration of translators from multicultural backgrounds can contribute to a reconciliation between foreignization and domestication in the translation process of medicine-related text more openly and inclusively, and create a“hybrid”text suitable for intercultural communication, enhancing the influence of TCM cultural exports.
