吴语表“插”义的本字

An Etymological Note of the Word Denoting INSERT in Wu Dialects

现代吴语及邻近方言里有一个核心义为“插”的动词,一般写作“扦”。本文从音韵地位、词义联系和字形关系三个方面论证其本字是“籤”。通过这一个案,本文主张考求方言本字应力争找到文字的初形,恢复词语和字形的联系,将死的文字同活的语言贯通起来。

There is a verb denoting INSERT in contemporary Wu and the neighboring dialects with the character qian.This paper tries to give the etymological note of qian扦in Wu dialects from perspectives of phonology,word meaning and characters and proves that it should be writen in the character qian.The paper argues that it is important to find out the etymological characters,reconstruct the relationship between word meaning and characters and link the written characters and audible words.
