Freezing of gait(FOG) is a disabling gait disorder' which is more common in patients with intermediate and advanced Parkinson's disease. It can lead to falls or injuries, seriously affecting the quality of life and social function of patients. At present, the pathophysiology and neural mechanisms of FOG in Parkinson's disease are not fully understood, and the available treatment strategies for FOG are poorly effective. This article reviews the research progress on the pathophysiology and neural mechanisms of FOG in Parkinson's disease.
