Zhengyi Mingdao(rectifying his righteousness without seeking his benefits and clarifying his ideas without counting his merits)is an important component of Dong Zhongshu’s ideological system.Since the Song Dynasty,scholars have interpreted the ideologies of The Book of Changes,The Spring and Autumn Annals,and a hundred of schools of thought based on the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao,interpreting their contents,exploring their significance,tracing their origins,and integrating ancient and modern times,which reflects the status and influence of the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao in carrying forward the past and opening up the future.By linking the ideas of righteousness and benefit,scholarship,morality,Buddhism,and retribution with the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao,scholars have provided standards for measurement,explained original ideas and derived new ideas that complement each other and promote mutual development,which expands the influence of the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao.Among the scholars who interpret the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao,some praise and promote it,others question and criticize it.With different perspectives and opinions,they have formed a joint force in studying the idea of Zhengyi Mingdao so as to deepen its research,enrich its ideological connotation,expand its dissemination field,which has resulted in its profound and extensive ideological influence.
