The Secret Clause is an important part of Perpetual Peace.The existence of the Secret Clause seems to be“a contradiction”,but Kant tried to present the boundary between philosophy and politics through the Secret Clause,and also left a place for philosophy in political affairs.Philosophy in political affairs assumes public rights through reason and thus bears a special responsibility for politics.The political application of philosophy hides Kant’s profound thought—truth is associated with free reason,the philosopher’s reason should be generally respected and the philosopher’s right to speak should be preserved,so listening to philosophers is a powerful guarantee for the realization of permanent world peace.
