摘要
《悲剧与革命》是雷蒙·威廉斯名著《现代悲剧》里的一个章节,2019年被浙江大学王杰教授收入由他主编的《现代悲剧理论研究手册》。这一文本的经典性固然与其作者在学界的崇高地位有关,但也离不开它本身所包含的真知灼见。不同于传统的悲剧理论家,威廉斯十分注重悲剧艺术与悲剧经验之间的紧密联系;他同时强调革命是一个漫长而又痛苦的历史过程。马克思主义不回避普遍存在的悲剧经验,而是把悲剧艺术当作改良社会的有力武器。
"Tragedy and Revolution"is one of the chapters in Raymond Williams's well-known work Modern Tragedy,and it was anthologized in A Handbook of Modern Tragic Theories edited by Professor Wang Jie of Zhejiang University in 2019.The canonization of this text certainly has something to do with the esteem its author enjoys in the academic world,but it can also be attributed to a number of profound insights contained therein.Unlike most traditional theorists of tragedy,Williams lays great emphasis on the close relationship between tragic art and tragic experience;he also views revolution as a long and painful historical process.Instead of denying the wide-spread tragic experience in the society,Marxist criticism employs tragic art as a powerful weapon of the social critique.
