基于语料库的地铁站名英译探究——以沪宁苏锡常徐六市为例

A Corpus-Based Study on English Translation of Metro Station Names:A Case Study of Metro Line 1 Shanghai,Nanjing,Suzhou,Wuxi,Changzhou and Xuzhou

作为城市公共语言服务的一环,地铁站名的翻译十分重要。然而,目前国内对于地铁站名的翻译尚没有统一的强制性标准可循,并且不少地方的地铁站名翻译方式充满争议。本文以上海、南京、苏州、无锡、常州、徐州六市的地铁一号线站名英译为例,采取定性和定量结合的方法,同时根据所建语料库,对比并探究这些城市的地铁站名翻译策略,尝试为我国的地铁站名翻译提供参照。

This paper addresses the crucial role of translating metro station names in urban public language services,emphasizing the lack of a standardized approach in China.The focus is specifically on the Chinese-to-English translation of metro station names along Line 1 in Shanghai,Nanjing,Suzhou,Wuxi,Changzhou and Xuzhou.By employing a combined qualitative and quantitative research methodology and creating a specialized corpus,this study aims to analyze the translation strategies used for these metro station names.The ultimate objective is to propose optimal solutions for the translation of metro station names in China.The research aims to contribute to the establishment of a unified and mandatory standard for translating metro station names,thus addressing the controversies surrounding current practices in different regions.
