Sino-Russian relations have evolved significantly over more than 7 decades,transitioning from the initial alignment with the Soviet Union at the founding of New China,to resetting the framework in 1989 with the intent to“end the past and open up the future”,and finally to the seamless shift from Sino-Soviet to Sino-Russian relations in 1991.These pivotal moments have defined the trajectory of bilateral ties,marking“the beginning of history”,“a historical turning point”,and“valuable historical experience”.The journey of Sino-Russian relations vividly demonstrates that the enduring friendship and neighborliness between China and Russia are not merely historical coincidences but inevitable outcomes,dictated by the logical progression of history.This embodies the clear historical rationale underpinning China-Russia relations in the contemporary era.The synergy of mutual interests in security,development,and rejuvenation has catalyzed a robust internal momentum,propelling the bilateral relationship towards continuous breakthroughs and advancements.As a paradigm of a new model of major-country relations,Sino-Russian ties are distinguished by their independence:they are not aimed at any third party nor swayed by external influences.By prioritizing the overarching goals of national security,development,and rejuvenation,these relations have also made significant and unique contributions to forging a new model of international relations and nurturing a global community with a shared future for humanity.
