摘要
文章首先从叙事顺序、叙事节奏、叙事频率三个角度,阐述了中国古代戏剧时间叙事与西方现代叙事学中时间叙事的相通之处。然后对比《西厢记》原文与奚如谷和伊维德(Stephen H.West&Wilt L.Idema)合译本中的时间叙事表达,研究发现:保留与显化是戏剧中时间叙事翻译的主要策略,这种策略同时关照了自我文化与他者文化,既忠实了原文,使译文保留原文的表层叙事连贯性,清晰显化出原文深层叙事,又使得目标语读者领会原文中蕴含的深意,使译文具有可读性。
This paper first illustrates the similarities between time narrative of ancient Chinese theaters and that in Western narratology from the perspective of order, duration and frequency. Then the time narratives are compared in The Story of the Western Wing and its translation by Stephen H.West and Wilt L.Idema. It is found that retention and manifestation are the main translation strategies of time narrative in drama. This strategy takes self-culture and other cultures into consideration at the same time, makes surface narrative sensible and realizes the deep narrative in the translated text, which is faithful to the original text. It also enables readers of target language to understand the deep meaning contained in the original text and makes the translated text readable.
