The emergence of"new historiography"from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries ushered in a"golden age"of western women's history writing.During this period, female historians benefited from the development of higher education for women, the shifing social attitudes, and the reorientation of historiography. With mutual support, female historians forged a collective identity, challenged the traditional social prejudices, and asserted themselves as an indispensable academic group. Moreover, female historians enhanced their academic influence by broadening their research fields and experimenting with new research methods.Female historians also actively contributed to and promoted the"new historiography"through their works.
