Alex Colville is a Canadian contemporary artist with a worldwide reputation.Known for his rational order,he has a unique artistic style.His deep and concise composition makes people think deeply.His pictures are quiet and concise,conveying a distant and mysterious color.When the"School of Seven"was prevalent in Canada,he always maintained prudent and independent thinking and reverently regarded art as a spiritual practice to engrave its philosophical connotation.The"existentialism"trend of thought and war experience gave him another perspective on life and death.He is good at using the symbolic color system,and the combination of casein and acrylic light color techniques to express his unique charm of formal symbols,among which Colville's concise and quiet color language system is the focus of this paper.
