识解视域下全过程人民民主话语英译研究——以《中国的民主》白皮书为例

A Study of the Translation of the Whole-Process People's Democracy Discourse in China:Democracy That Works from the Perspective of Construal

本文基于认知识解理论,探究《中国的民主》白皮书英译的认知理据及国际传播策略。研究发现:(1)详略度、聚焦、突显和视角这四个识解维度在《中国的民主》英译过程中发挥着不同的制约作用;(2)英汉母语者在识解方式上有明显差异,译者需解构和重构原文的识解方式,选择符合译语读者认知模式的识解方式进行表达;(3)全过程人民民主的对外阐释既需要使用外国人听得懂、易接受的语言,又要超越文化信仰和意识形态差异。识解理论为中国民主话语英译提供了新的阐释视角,有利于中国民主形象的塑造和国际传播。

Translating China means conveying China's voice.As a cognitive activity of cross-language conversion,translation can reflect the translator's different construal ways.Under the guidance of the construal theory in cognitive linguistics,this'study,taking China:Democracy That Works as the research object,attempts to probe into the cognitive motivation of translation and international communication strategies for telling China's democratic stories.The findings are as follows:1)The four construal dimensions of specificity,focusing,prominence and perspective,play different roles in the translation process of China:Democracy That Works.2)The above construal dimensions correspond to specific construal operations.Given the significant differences between English and Chinese native speakers in choosing construal operations,translators should deconstruct and reconstruct the construal operations of the source text,and choose the appropriate construal operations that conform to the cognitive patterns of the target readers.3)The interpretation of whole-process people's democracy is supposed to use expressions that foreigners can understand and accept,and transcend the differences of cultural beliefs and ideologies.Therefore,the construal theory can provide a unified explanation for translation unequivalence,which offers a new perspective for analyzing the translation process of the whole-process people's democracy discourse,and has a positive influence on the construction of China's democratic discourse system and the shaping of the good national image.
