Cuproptosis is a form of regulatory cell death caused by excessive bivalent copper ions.Metabolism-associated fatty liver disease is a complex disease caused by multiple metabolic disorders.Excessive copper ion will lead to hepatic steatosis and liver dysfunction, and high concentrations of copper will promote the development of metabolism-related fatty liver disease to liver cirrhosis and even hepatocellular carcinoma. The mechanism of cuproptosis will also affect the process of other cell death in the body, such as ferroptosis, thus interfering with the progression of metabolism-related fatty liver disease. In this paper, the roles of cuproptosis in metabolism-related fatty liver disease were reviewed, and the therapeutic drugs related to cuproptosis were summarized and prospected.
