虽然阿拉伯世界在古代就与中国建立了密切的海上联系,广东华侨在近代也走遍世界,但广东人却极少有移居阿拉伯国家的。这种状态在近二三十年来发生变化,广东人在阿拉伯从无到有,从少到多,演绎了粤商走天下的新故事。本文主要以近年作者在阿联酋迪拜的田野调查资料为基础。

At the turn of the 21st century,Guangdong new immigrants in Dubai,United Arab Emirates,began to increase significantly.They are mainly engaged in wholesale and retail business of clothing,mobile phones,cosmetics,etc.and take Dubai as the center,radiating the Middle East,Africa and Latin America.The majority of Guangdong new immigrants are from Chaoshan,who come to Dubai through relatives and business partners.The pulse of personnel flow is closely related to the ups and downs of Dubai’s economic situation.Due to the restrictions of UAE immigration policy,it is difficult for foreigners to join UAE nationality and can only maintain the status of resident.The main purpose of Guangdong new immigrants to the UAE is to do business and business services.Therefore,the outstanding characteristics of Guangdong new immigrants in the contemporary UAE are“temporary residence”and“business”.
