Objective To investigate the relationship between serum adiponectin(ADPN)and leptin(LEP)levels and disease severity in patients with chronic periodontitis(CP)upon admission. Methods A total of 90 CP patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from March 2021 to March 2023 were prospectively included as the study group, and 90 patients were divided into mild group(48 cases),moderate group(28 cases),and severe group(14 cases)according to the severity of disease at admission, and 90 healthy people who went to the hospital for physical examination at the same time were selected as the control group. The serum ADPN,LEP levels, and other clinical data between the study group and the control group were compared,as well as CP patients with different disease severity. Results The proportion of LEP and previous smoking history decreased in the severe, moderate, and mild groups, while the level of ADPN increased in turn(P<0.05).According to point two column correlation analysis, serum LEP was positively correlated with the severity of disease in CP patients(r>0,P<0.05).There was a negative correlation between serum ADPN,past smoking history, and the severity of disease in CP patients(r<0,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum ADPN and LEP are abnormally expressed in CP patients, and as the severity of the disease increases,ADPN levels decrease while LEP levels increase.
