This paper systematically introduces the second-year architectural design course at Southeast University that develops a knowledge structure and fosters design creativity through a framework that addresses basic issues,urbanity,and openness.It demonstrates the knowledge structure of the course and design innovation on this basis,through integrating theory,practice and teaching supported by design and representational methods of drawing and modeling.In response to the crisis of the architectural discipline,the course emphasizesknowledge-based architectural education to return to the professional core of basic architectural issues and design competence,to nurture architects of the future with creativity and ingenuity.
