摘要
保罗·奥斯特在《眩晕先生》中以文学想象的方式构建了相互信任、相互融合、彼此支持、友爱共存的多民族共同体,这对当今美国国内存在的种族问题和现实矛盾具有启示作用和批判意义。奥斯特通过书写白人、犹太人、印第安人和黑人四个不同种族人物之间相互依存、相互斗争、生成少数以及生成族群的过程,以此来表达对少数政治权力的关注和对构建多民族共同体的美好期冀。
Paul Auster's novel Mr.Vertigo skillfully constructs a multi-ethnic community characterized by mutual trust,mutual integration,mutual support,and harmonious coexistence,holding significant enlightening implications for the prevalent contemporary racial issues and realistic contradictions in the United States.In this novel,Auster articulates his concern for the political power of minorities and expresses his aspiration for fostering a multi-ethnic community through his exploration of the interdependence,shared struggles,becoming-minority,becoming-pack among individuals from diverse backgrounds including whites,Jews,Indians,and blacks.
